Billion yuan

The annual output value of China's media industry in 2013 is expected to surpass 880 billion yuan ($143 billion), according to a report released by the School of Journalism and Communication under Tsinghua University. In 2012, the value stood at 760 billion yuan, a rise of 13.4 percent from the previous year. The report says that in 2012, TV remained the largest media type in terms of market scale, social media boomed and newspapers were in a sluggish situation.
