A survey conducted by Beijing's health authorities between 2011 and 2012 showed that more than 62 percent of pupils had lower than normal visual acuity, and more than 20 percent were obese. As a result, the city's health bureau issued a health guide for primary and high schools recently, suggesting that every day pupils spend 3.5 hours on outdoor leisure and sports.
