"If the number of tourists does not return to its normal level by the end of May, we hotel owners will go crazy."

A hotel owner named Shang from Fenghuang, Hunan province, told Xinhua News Agency on Tuesday. Starting April 10, the ancient town of Fenghuang charged entry fees, causing fewer tourists to visit the town. In Shang's hotel, only half of its rooms were occupied on Tuesday, the second day of the three-day May Day holiday, which is usually the peak season for tourism.
