20,000 safety nets

Beijing will install safety nets for 20,000 manholes and 1,000 alarm devices for reporting manholes without covers in the capital before the flood season arrives on June 1, the Beijing Drainage Group said on Wednesday. A woman disappeared after falling into an uncovered manhole on March 22 in Changsha, Hunan province, drawing nationwide attention on the safety of manholes. See more on page 5
