Xi pledges support for UN and Vietnam

President Xi Jinping pledged on Thursday that China will deepen cooperation with the United Nations and shoulder its due international obligations. In a telephone conversation with UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon, Xi said that China will work with the UN to safeguard international justice and promote international cooperation to contribute more to global peace and development. China has always been a staunch supporter and an important partner of the UN, Xi told Ban. Also on Thursday, Xi told Vietnamese Communist Party chief Nguyen Phu Trong in a telephone conversation that his country will work with Vietnam to enhance bilateral exchanges and cooperation in various fields.

Refugee camp bombing kills 12

At least 12 people were killed and 35 others injured when a bomb hit a refugee camp in Pakistan's northwest city of Nowshera on Thursday morning, district officials said.
