Million trees

Hebei province will plant more than 100 million trees in areas close to Beijing this year to prevent the capital from being hit by sandstorms, the provincial forestry bureau said. Planting of the new greenbelt, with a total area of 280,000 hectares, started in spring, the bureau said on Sunday, according to Chinanews.com. Hebei, the province circling Beijing and Tianjin, is regarded as the last green barrier to protect the two cities from sandstorms.
