Hong Kong experts sent to Egypt to ID bodies
The Hong Kong government has sent at least five experts to Egypt, including specialists from the Hospital Authority and police, to help identify victims in the hot air balloon crash in the city of Luxor.
The Immigration Department already has four officers in Egypt who are accompanying 10 relatives of the nine Hong Kong residents who died. They arrived in Cairo on Wednesday. The relatives were expected to identify the remains on Thursday morning.
The six Hong Kong residents who were on the tour but not on the balloon ride have decided to return home early.
Egyptian state media reported that some of the victims were "cremated" in the fireball. The victims' remains were sent from the crash scene to four hospital mortuaries in Cairo.
