New 'tech city' plans to attract top specialists

By Li Xiang | China Daily | Updated: 2013-02-22 07:16

To strengthen capacity for sustained independent innovation, Tianjin is building a 30-square-kilometer tech city in its Binhai New Area responsible for research and development work at central State-owned enterprises.

A 40 sq km ancillary area nearby will help industrialize the research.

"In the tech city, an entire industrial chain can be found in a single building - from product design, material purchase, marketing, logistics distribution, financial settlement and after-sales services," said Liu Xianming, vice-director of the economic development administration at Binhai High-Tech Industrial Development Area.
