China's electricity output hit 4.94 trillion kWh in 2012, an increase of 4.52 percent year-on-year, the State Electricity Regulatory Commission said on Friday. The newly installed power generation capacity stood at 80 million kW, raising the total generation capacity to at least 1.14 billion kW, up 7.5 percent year-on-year. China remained the world's largest energy producer for a fifth year in 2012, the National Energy Administration said on Wednesday.
