Domestic car brands showed significant improvement in durability for a second consecutive year and continued to narrow the gap with international brands, according to a recent survey by research firm JD Power Asia Pacific.
The study measures problems experienced in the past six months by original buyers who have owned their vehicles from 25 to 36 months. Overall dependability is determined by the number of problems experienced per 100 vehicles, with a lower score reflecting higher quality.
The results showed that problems in Chinese brand cars fell to 250 per 100 units in 2012 compared with 327 in 2011.
