RCSC reports 'stable flow' of donations
A senior executive of the Red Cross Society of China said the charity has seen a stable flow of public donations since October 2011, Xinhua News Agency reported. "The amount was the same as an ordinary year," Zhao Baige, vice-president of the RCSC, said at a conference of its national council, without giving an exact figure. "Ordinary years" usually refer to those when no major natural disasters or accidents occur, as such events often spur an outpouring of public donations, said the report. Zhao said the RCSC received a total of 3.8 billion yuan ($609 million) from the government, public donations and international aid projects from October 2011 to September 2012. She noted that nearly 40,000 individuals and entities donated through the RCSC headquarters in that period, a relatively high number.
