Host city for 2013 World Ocean Week

The Zhanjiang government will host the World Ocean Week in Zhanjiang in October next year to promote the maritime strength of the city and the oceanic economy of Guangdong province.

The event will also serve as a forum for international cooperation among coastal cities, international organizations, inter-governmental bodies, oceanic technology and tourism circles, according to organizers.

With the participation of the public, the event is also intended to popularize the awareness of ocean development and protection.
