By Xu Xiao | China Daily | Updated: 2012-11-14 08:00

Huang Xiaoyan, Fujian's representative to the 18th Party Congress of the Communist Party of China, said recently he was encouraged by the pledge made at the congress to support "old revolutionary areas, ethnic minority areas, remote and less-developed areas".

Huang is the Party chief of Longyan, a city in western Fujian.

After hearing the report by Party General Secretary Hu Jintao, he said he felt more aware of his duty to boost the development of his city, which is a remote, less-developed area that played a part of the revolutionary activities of the last century.
