Million workers

China's labor unions have raised more than 10.84 billion yuan ($1.7 billion) and set up 36,000 assistance centers and stations in the past decade, benefiting 41.9 million needy workers, according to Wang Yupu, vice-chairman of the All-China Federation of Trade Unions. China began to establish assistance centers and stations for needy workers in 2002, and the system now covers all cities and counties, he said.
