New VW gearbox plant
On Aug 31, German automaker Volkswagen laid the foundation stone for a new transmission plant in Tianjin that will produce its latest dual-clutch transmissions in late 2014.
The project's 1.84 billion yuan first phase is designed to produce 450,000 gearboxes annually, the company said, adding that it will expand capacity later based on market demand.
