300,000 Foreign students

A total of 300,000 foreign students are studying in China, 23,000 of whom have received scholarships provided by the Chinese government, Minister of Education Yuan Guiren said on Thursday.

China will increase government-offered scholarships in order to encourage more foreign students to study in the country, Yuan said, adding the number of scholarship recipients is expected to reach 50,000 in a few years.
