"Now my children study everything at the village primary school - math, Tibetan, Mandarin, English. They teach me English words sometimes. I am so proud of them. I hope they can have a better future with this education."

Tserin Dorje, a farmer in suburban Lhasa, capital of the Tibet autonomous region, said he is very grateful to the government's efforts to make free education accessible to every child in Tibet. The regional government will extend a free education program starting from September to include all preschool children, an unprecedented measure among the country's provincial-level regions.
