Legislation Approved to protect stations

China's State Council passed legislation on Wednesday intended to protect the environment and facilities for meteorological observation.

The regulation requires local authorities to take meteorological facilities into consideration during urban planning and ensure environmental requirements near meteorological observation stations, according to a statement by the China Meteorological Administration on Thursday.

No further details will be released before the regulation is officially launched, according to the administration.
