Crackdown on human organ trafficking

The Ministry of Health on Aug 13 vowed to cooperate with police investigations into medical institutions and workers involved in instances of illegal human organ transplants, Xinhua News Agency reported.

Police will announce a list of hospitals and doctors involved in recently uncovered human organ trafficking rings, said Deng Haihua, the spokesman of the ministry. The health watchdog also pledged to work with judicial departments to punish those who have violated professional codes. The police said earlier this month that 137 suspects had been arrested in the latest crackdown on human organ trafficking, jointly conducted by 18 provincial police authorities in late July. A total of 127 organ suppliers were rescued.
