The average living area per household in China was 116.4 square meters in 2011, according to a report from the Institute of Social Science Survey of Peking University. After it was released on Sunday, the report received massive attention from netizens who doubted the accuracy of the figure. Li Jianxin, a sociology professor who led the research, acknowledged the research had defects in sample differences. His team will conduct more research on the topic in the future, Li said.
