Ninety-eight central government departments and State-funded institutions spent 3.6 billion yuan ($565 million) last year on official cars and their maintenance. Departments and institutions of the central government started on July 18 to disclose their costs for "three items", which cover vehicle purchase and maintenance, overseas business trips and banquets.
