Government cars

Wenzhou, in Zhejiang province, auctioned 215 government cars for 10.59 million yuan ($1.66 million) on Friday, Xinhua News Agency reported. The city undertook a reform of the use of government cars in April involving in 106 administrative departments and 207 public institutions. The 215 cars are the first batch of 1,300 government vehicles to be auctioned. About 80 percent of the government's cars will be auctioned. About 300 cars, such as patrol vehicles, will be kept. The local government will give an allowance of 300 to 3,100 yuan to officials for their business travel.
