A man from Guangdong province received the death penalty on Thursday for producing 195 million yuan ($31 million) in counterfeit bills. Wu Shengyou, once a machinery businessman, partnered with Zhang Liangcheng, a man from Hunan with more than 13 years of experience in the printing industry, and the two began to produce counterfeit money in 2007. At the time police raided their production base in 2010, about 128 million yuan of fake money had already been distributed into the market. They made a profit of 500,000 yuan from the business. Zhang was sentenced to death last year.
