Jockey club rides to the rescue

Brian Stevenson, chairman of the Hong Kong Jockey Club, said his recent visit to Sichuan province was special although he had visited the Chinese mainland many times.

During his first visit to the Southwest China province in late April, Stevenson visited the Sichuan HKJC Olympic School, the Sichuan Provincial 8-1 Rehabilitation Center, the Mianyang 3rd City Hospital HKJC Medical Complex and Mianyang Youxian Zhongxing HKJC Junior Middle School.

"The two schools and medical complex have been built thanks to donations from the HKJC while the rehabilitation center has state-of-the-art equipment and training professionals acquired by the club to raise its overall standard of rehabilitation service," said Liu Jie, vice-governor of Sichuan.
