By Cheng Guangjin | China Daily | Updated: 2012-02-17 07:57

BEIJING - China calls on all sides to seize the opportunity for an early resumption of talks with Iran on its nuclear program and will continue to play a constructive role in the process, a Foreign Ministry spokesman said on Thursday.

Iran on Thursday expressed hopes of reviving talks with world powers, a day after it unveiled what it described as major progress in its nuclear program, according to AFP.

Iran sent a letter on Wednesday confirming its readiness to discuss resuming negotiations in response to an October offer made by European Union foreign policy chief Catherine Ashton, AFP reported.
