Trading places for grander spaces

By Zhu Linyong | China Daily | Updated: 2012-02-17 07:43

China's oldest art biennial will have a new look when it opens in early October.

The 2012 Shanghai Biennale will be the inaugural event of the China Art Palace at the Shanghai Expo site. It will be staged under the theme "reactivation" and emphasize cooperation among people from all fields.

The ninth biennale will also be the first show after the Shanghai Art Museum's relocation from the former horseracing club, which thrived in Puxi district in the 1930s. It will be renamed as Shanghai Contemporary Art Museum later this year.
