Shares up 0.9% on resources
Chinese stocks rose 0.9 percent on Wednesday, hitting the highest closing level in two-and-half months, as the market was underpinned by strength in resource and securities sectors.
The Shanghai Composite Index finished at 2366.7 points after falling 0.3 percent on Tuesday. The China Enterprises Index of top mainland companies listed in Hong Kong rose 2.39 percent.
Haier announces Japan expansion
Appliance maker Haier Group said at a news conference on Wednesday that it would establish its Asian headquarters in Osaka, Japan, and build two research and development centers in Tokyo and Kyoto.
The news conference also marked the official unveiling of Haier's second brand in Japan, AQUA. The company also has washing machine, refrigerator and consumer home electric appliances businesses in Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines and Vietnam.
