By Jin Zhu | China Daily | Updated: 2012-02-03 08:04

BEIJING - China will encourage the young generation of farmers to learn advanced farming technologies to boost the country's future agricultural production, senior officials said on Thursday.

The country will train more professional farmers and lure others back from urban areas to contribute to agricultural production and the rural economy, said Tang Renjian, deputy director of the office for the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee's Leading Group on Rural Work.

He made the remarks at a news conference organized by the State Council Information Office on Thursday, one day after the CPC Central Committee issued its first document of the year.
