Baby girl dumped in garbage bin dies

A newborn baby girl who was found abandoned in a garbage can in Chongqing died soon afterwards despite emergency hospital treatment.

A cleaner, Tang Xiaodong, discovered the infant when she heard its faint cries. She said the child was barely breathing and was not moving in the freezing conditions. Police are seeking the parents who could face up to five years in prison.
