Captain credentials put to test

China Daily | Updated: 2011-12-27 08:18

BEIJING - The civil aviation authority said it has checked the qualifications of 10,092 air captains for commercial flights this year, and found 1.8 percent of them, or some 180 captains, were not up to the standards.

The unqualified captains were told to remedy the gap before they could work as captains again.

Li Jiaxiang, head of the Civil Aviation Administration of China, said that the move has reduced the number of human-error incidents by 55 percent in 2011.
