Choppy waters ahead for global economy

BEIJING - An expected flagging global economy next year would bring rising trade and exchange rate frictions and pose challenges to China's growing overseas investments, a senior researcher with a State Council think tank said at a recent seminar on China's diplomacy.
The challenges identified by Ding Yifan, deputy director of the Institute of World Economy at the State Council Development Research Center, are a continuation of major issues China's economic diplomacy confronted over the past year.
Indeed, 2011 was a tough one for China's economic diplomacy.
