GAC to export its Trumpchi SUVs
GAC Passenger Vehicle Co will begin exporting cars beginning next year, its general manager Wu Song said last week during the Guangzhou auto show.
Models to be shipped overseas include will include 2.0-liter and 1.8-liter variants of the home-developed SUV brand Trumpchi.
The Trumpchi GS5 expected to go on sale next spring in China is also under consideration, said Wu.
The company - a branch of Guangzhou Automobile Group that makes its own, self-developed vehicles - sold 14,000 cars in the first 10 months of 2011.
Land Rover hybrid on market in 2014
The Range_e hybrid by British luxury car manufacturer Jaguar Land Rover will go on sale in China in 2014, said Bob Grace, the carmaker's CEO of China operations.
Making its Asian debut at the Guangzhou auto show, the first plug-in hybrid Land Rover produces only 89 grams of CO2 per kilometer and uses 3.36 liters of fuel in 100 kilometers, but can still reach a top speed of 193 km/h.
A diesel-electric hybrid designed for the European market, Range_e will be modified as a gasoline-electric hybrid for China.
New local brand Oley by FAW
Moving to tap the younger, fashion-conscious market, leading domestic automaker FAW Group unveiled its new brand Oley on Nov 20. Priced between 70,000 yuan and 100,000 yuan, the first model is scheduled to go on sale next March.
It will be produced at FAW Passenger Vehicle Co's more advanced second factory and will share a sales and service network with Besturn, another FAW Group brand that has registered good sales performance.
Beijing Hyundai unveils Shouwang
An all-new brand by the joint venture between Beijing Automotive Industry Corp and Hyundai Motor Co, called the Shouwang, was unveiled at the Guangzhou auto show.
The car on display was a pure electric model and the joint venture plans to develop more new-energy models, company executives said.
Shouwang means "hoping for bright prospects" in Chinese. The brand's badge resembles a pair of hands.
Beijing Hyundai introduced its first self-developed car, the Moinca, in 2009.
The company sold 573,900 vehicles by September, 12.4 percent growth over the same period last year.
Top motor show at Canton Fair
The third EICMA China Sino-Italian motorcycle show will be held concurrently with the Canton Fair in Guangzhou, the nation's largest trade expo, on July 15 to 17 and Oct 15 to 17 next year.
An abbreviation in Italian for the Milan International Motorcycle Show, the EICMA is the largest motorcycle industry show in the world, said organizers.
Its China events will cover 40,000 square meters and host more professional visitors and exhibitors, the organizers said, creating a synergy with the Canton Fair.
The event will attract a number of domestic and overseas leading motorcycle companies. Professional visitors are likely to hit 100,000.
