New spin put on old opera
The National Center for the Performing Arts will present Puccini's opera La Boheme from Nov 28 to 30.
The production debuted at the center's first opera festival in 2009. Director Chen Xinyi creates a bold conception and sets the story in Beijing's 798 art zone. The production features Venezuelan tenor Aquiles Machado as Rodolfo, Chinese soprano Yao Hong as Mimi and several young vocalists, including Zhang Yingxi and Song Yuanming.
