Security guards become college grads

Over the past 17 years, more than 300 security guards at Peking University have earned admission to colleges by teaching themselves in their spare time while holding down their jobs.

About 90 percent of the guards have gone on to other occupations, such as college teaching, according to Wang Guiming, the chief of the university's security force.
