Extra security ordered as drivers ignore tollbooth

Traffic authorities in Shenzhen's Yantian district plan to install a surveillance system and put 40 traffic police officers in a toll collection station to prevent drivers from breaking through the barriers to avoid paying the toll.

About 2,000 drivers a day force their way through the Yantian'ao tollbooth without paying their tolls and the station has been forced to replace the barriers dozens of times a day, said Zhou Jianmin, director of the station. Two toll collectors have died at the station this year while trying to stop cars breaking through the barriers.
