NBS to improve data training

The National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) will increase its cooperation with the United Nations to improve training in statistics and facilitate technical exchanges with developing countries, a senior official said on Monday.

"The training is expected to promote rational and effective statistical practices for officials and make China's statistics more in line with the international standards," said Ma Jiantang, the director of the NBS.

Stocks fall on price comment

Stocks fell on the Chinese mainland, dragging the benchmark index to the lowest level in more than 14 months, as comments from the central bank governor that inflation remained the nation's "top concern" fanned speculation that policies to curb rising prices will slow economic growth.

The Shanghai Composite Index dropped 1.64 percent to 2393.18, the lowest close since July 5, 2010. The CSI 300 Index fell 2.19 percent to 2610.92.
