Champions, carmaker both going for gold

Both BMW and gold medal winners are champions in their fields, so it is no surprise the luxury carmaker draws sporting legends as buyers.

On a day in mid-July, the Beijing Yanbao BMW Dealership had a special customer - the 2010 Guangzhou Asian Games all-around men's gymnastics champion Teng Haibin. He soon became the owner of a BMW 520 Li.

According to BMW, more than one-third of China's 2008 Olympic gold medallists bought BMWs, including diving champion Guo Jingjing and table tennis champs Wang Hao, Wang Liqin, Ma Lin, Zhang Yining and Wang Nan. Also, more than half of the Chinese champions in the 2010 Guangzhou Asian Games are BMW customers. The most popular models of sports stars are the X5 and X6.
