Prior to the 10th anniversary of 9/11, China Daily talked to some people at Times Square in New York to find out whether they feel the city is safer.
"I do believe most residents may feel a little safer now. There is definitely more awareness of terrorism now than before, although we have always been aware of terrorism. It's not a matter of if, it's a matter of when. The lives of many people I know changed after the attack, and many of them decided to quit and leave the fire department to live a low-key life."
