Aug 23 Flooding occurred at midday and trapped 26 miners in a pit of Hengtai Coal Mining Co, based in Boli county in Qitaihe, Heilongjiang province. Nine miners managed to escape.
Aug 24 Seven people, including the legal representative and the owner of the mine, were detained for their alleged responsibilities for the accident.
Aug 24 Two senior officials in Boli county, the county chief and his deputy, were sacked.
