Metro Beijing: Ex-steel workers from relocated plant find it hard to forge ahead

By Cao Yin | China Daily | Updated: 2011-08-11 07:45

BEIJING - Zhang Qiang has been unemployed for more than six months, ever since the steel factory that was once the heart of his community was relocated to another province.

"It's been difficult trying to find another job," said the 30-year-old.

He joined Shougang Group in the capital's western Shijingshan district straight from school and was managing its blast furnace when it closed last December.
