Police say man has confessed to murdering missing girl

BEIJING - A 7-year-old girl missing since July 4 in Fengtai district was murdered and a man, who was arrested on July 29, has confessed to the killing, local police have said.

Liu Lijie, a first-grade student at Beijing Experimental Primary School, went missing after telling her mother she was going out to play on swings close to their home in Nan Xinhua Lu.

Liu Chunjiang, spokesman for the district police branch, said Liu's body was found in a plastic bag inside a green belt near West Gongyi Bridge on July 19.
