Spanish coach hopes Imura can assist her

By Sun Xiaochen | China Daily | Updated: 2011-07-22 08:03

The Spanish synchronized swimming team's head coach, Anna Tarres, would love legendary coach Masayo Imura to instruct her swimmers after finishing behind the host in all the three technical disciplines at the Shanghai World Championships.

"I would like her to be in Spain to help me instead of being here coaching China. She is a very good coach. Every team wants her to join them," Tarres said after Spain finished third in the technical teams, behind Russia and China, on Tuesday.

Spain claimed a gold and a silver medal at the 2009 Rome event and Tarres attributed her team's decline to a lack of experience, but said she was satisfied with the young swimmers' performances.
