Musical resonates with the times
Pawn is a musical about a Chinese-Canadian soldier Abraham Niu, who saves a child in Afghanistan by sacrificing his life, while stationed in Kandahar. The tragedy is compounded by the revelation that 10 years earlier, Niu's brother died in the 9/11 terrorist attack.
