Hunger strike earns son right to choose his college

A senior middle school graduate in Heyuan, Guangdong province, fasted for four days after his mother went against his will to select a college and major for him.

The student, surnamed Yuan, got a good score in this year's national college entrance exam and he wanted to study electronic engineering. His mother, surnamed Liu, wanted him to secure a good job in the future and strongly disagreed with his choice.
