BEIJING - Jia Chaofeng just switched to running the marathon after last year's Asian Games, but she has shown enough potential to suggest she could shine on the international stage.
The 23-year-old started training for the 5,000 meters and 10,000m at 14, but failed to deliver world-class performances, including at the Asian Games.
However, the Asiad flop might have been a blessing in disguise as her coach advised her to switch to the marathon.
