Matosevic angry after shock loss

By Tym Glaser | China Daily | Updated: 2011-07-09 08:01

Australia's Marinko Matosevic was not the happiest of campers in the capital after his grueling, near four-hour, five-set loss to China's Wu Di in the opening Davis Cup singles rubber on Friday.

"I am disappointed and angry. Physically I feel OK, but I feel like killing somebody right now," the Melbourne-based 25-year-old said bluntly to the media after his 4-6, 6-3, 3-6, 6-4, 6-4 loss to tireless Wu before a sparse crowd of about 200 at the Beijing International Tennis Center.

The marathon encounter was littered with breaks of serve and Matosevic said that came down to a combination of his opponent's good play and a sluggish court.
