Chinese official seeks solution to crisis

Beijing - A Chinese diplomat met with leaders of Libya's National Transitional Council (NTC) at their base in Benghazi on Wednesday to build deeper relationships with the opposition and seek a quick solution to the current crisis.

Chen Xiaodong, director- general of the West Asian and North African Affairs Department of the Chinese Foreign Ministry, talked to officials with the NTC, including Ali Essawi, deputy head of the NTC executive office.

China is "deeply concerned" about the four-month-old civil war and attaches "great importance to the NTC's role in solving the crisis", he added.
