HK Open has major presence

China Daily | Updated: 2011-07-06 07:48

BEIJING - US Open champion Rory McIlroy will bring his Major talents to the 2011 UBS Hong Kong Open after the Northern Irishman confirmed his return to the Hong Kong Golf Club at Fanling from Dec 1-4.

Fresh from his superb performance at Congressional Country Club, where the 22-year-old won his first Major by an astonishing eight-shot margin, McIlroy was quick to confirm his return to Hong Kong, one of his favorite cities, as he looks to win the $2.5 million event.

McIlroy finished sixth behind Ryder Cup teammate and defending champion Ian Poulter last year and 12 months before he agonizingly missed out in a sudden-death playoff loss to Chinese Taipei's Lin Wen-tang.
