ST. JAMES, Barbados - Lisle Austin, the acting president of CONCACAF, North American soccer's governing body, vowed on Thursday to fight his suspension as the fallout from the FIFA corruption scandal took another twist.
In a statement released from his native Barbados in conjunction with a letter sent to FIFA, Austin said he has urged FIFA president Sepp Blatter to step into the power struggle.
"Earlier this week, I advised FIFA president Sepp Blatter of the actual course of events related to the governance of CONCACAF and urged his intervention to ensure that the statutes of CONCACAF are honored," Austin said.
