Jiaxing targets new coastal area as a growth spot

Jiaxing in eastern Zhejiang province is gearing up to develop a new coastal area as an economic growth driver.

The new coastal area, centered around Jiaxing Port, is located on the north bank of Hangzhou Bay and near four large cities - Shanghai, Hangzhou, Suzhou and Ningbo - giving it a distinct advantage for economic growth.

The total investment on infrastructure facilities in the area during the past five years was 10.83 billion yuan ($1.67 billion), laying a solid foundation for further development.
